playa de san cristobalplaya de san cristobalSan Cristóbal beach is nearly one kilometre long, 950 meters. It is situated at the coastal village of the same name at the southern access to the town. It is an average of 28 meters wide and has smooth stones and a moderate swell. There are several restaurants with fresh fish and seafood. It can be reached by bus and there are public telephones. The Insular Hospital of Gran Canaria is situated at the same district, past the dual carriageway, so a few kilometres away.

playa de las canteraslas canterasLas Canteras beach is the gem of the capital of Gran Canaria, its larger lung or leisure center. It is a bit more than four kilometres long by an average of 50 meters wide. It has fine golden sand and calm water, protected by a natural Breakwater, a lava arm two kilometres long, parallel to the beach. It formed in one of the eruptions of the volcano of la Isleta. One lava tongue ran into the sea and solidified.

La Laja beach, more than one kilometre long, 1,200 meters, by an average of 40 meters wide, is situated at a rural area where there were houses by the beach until the 90s of the 20th century. They were demolished to improve the access to the town, widening the dual carriageway. It has fine grey sand, a moderate swell and dangerous currents.

playa del confitalel confitalEl Confital beach, 280 meters long by an average of 25 meters wide, has fine golden sand and rocks. There is a permanent heavy swell, so it is recommended to swim carefully, even though the heavy swell makes it good for surfing and windsurfing. It is better to swim in the natural swimming-pools between the rocks at the area of la Punta del Confital.

It is situated near the marina and within the waters of la Luz port and is normally crowded, because it is an urban beach. It is full equipped, but swimming in the calm water is not advisable because the beach is situated at a port area and therefore suffers from environmental damages.

It is 360 meters long by an average of 40 meters wide and has fine black sand. The neighbours of the area, at Valle de Jinamar, usually go to this beach that has sunshades. It is seven kilometres away from the Insular Hospital of Gran Canaria.

norteFANEQUEFaneque beach, windy and with a heavy swell, is one of the isolated beaches of Agaete, which are nudist beaches. It is nearly one kilometre long, about 920 meters, and an average of 30 meters wide and it has red sand made of middle-size grain, lapilli and smooth stones. It is situated under the roque de Faneque and has the same name, at a virgin area. Although it is difficult to get there, it is usually crowded. It is 50 kilometres away from the General Hospital of Gran Canaria, Doctor Negrin.

norteel riscoEl Risco beach is situated near the boundaries between Agaete and Artenara, at the mouth of the gully with the same name. It has black sand made of middle-size grain, lapilli and smooth stones and it is half a kilometre long by an average of 41 meters wide. It is situated in a rural land surrounded by farms that can be reached through a land road. There is a constant wind and a heavy swell. It has no services and the General Hospital of Gran Canaria, Doctor Negrin is 50 kilometres away.

nortesotaventoSotavento beach, at Agaete, is 200 meters long and 34 meters wide. It is at the coast of the municipality. The beach has black sand made of middle-size grain and smooth stones. There is a heavy swell and the beach is difficult to reach. There is a land road, so it is better to go by off-road vehicle, and then there is more than one and a half kilometre of walk to the beach. It is situated at a ruaral and isolated area and it is usually quite empty. It is 42 kilometres away from the General Hospital of Gran Canaria, Doctor Negrin.
